We have over 12 years’ experience remediating mold. Why is that important from an assessment stand point? You will find (if you do any shopping out there) that most assessors are home inspectors , or building contractors that added the service to their offerings or just entrepreneurs that decided to “get in the mold business”. While they are probably great home inspectors or building contractors, they have little or mostly no experience remediating mold. This will cost you more than it needs to. In our remediation experience this leads to over-scoping the work and costs a lot more. The mold assessors we have worked with in the past (when we were the remediator) make the job bigger than it has to be. It’s not really their fault, they just don’t have the knowledge of what it takes to remediate mold except what they learned in the classroom and we all know that real leaning starts in the field. We use state of the art equipment including moisture detectors, infrared cameras that can detect indications of excess moisture and borescopes (a small camera on a long probe) that can get behind walls, cabinets and other tight spaces.
